International Youth Exchange Camps

Wilderness camps provide an incomparable opportunity to go back to our roots and to learn about them. Ecosystem services and their linkages to people and lifestyle decisions are part of our natural relationship with the environment.

60 Wilderness Camps, 7 Countries, 1000 Young Participants



TOPIC Climate change and its links to ecosystem decline.
Education Through Adventure Experienced educators will involve the children and youth in interactive exercises and volunteering actions related to the project's theme.
Global Connection, Local Leadership Young Ambassadors (YA) from different countries will participate in YA wilderness camps and, thus, will also make these camps serve for international exchange and peer learning purposes. Each national partner will lead this activity in their own countries.

“I feel like after this Chituc Ringing Camp, I am more interested in working in ecology, or at least, doing something to protect the biodiversity. I have more courage when I see other Young Ambassadors being worried about our current way of living, and wanting to help the nature. I had a good time because we were a small team, and it was easy to know each other. We had the opportunity to learn new things, and discover more. It was very nice to learn something about rocks as well, with Kaspar's help. Also, I met Katalin for the first time and I'm glad I have a very kind project manager. We also had breaks, baths in the sea, a lot of coffee!!”

“I could list the whole trip as one wonderful experience. :) At the camp, the ringing of waders was indeed remarkable, as well as some rare species of passerines (Paddyfield Warbler, Northern Whetear). In Delta, the cruises with the ship were just fantastic with thousands of birds, often very close to us. The last but not least, the group of organisers & young ambassadors felt like one big family of people who really do care about nature and climate, which was a very pleasant thing to see. I'm glad for the opportunity of being part of it.”

“The people I met - great, young, active, engaged, smart, good people! Everyone from the participants to the organiser. The place itself - Chituc and the Delta excursion showed me wild nature, that left me without words. The organisation - it was well balanced, so we can learn from the camp and also from each other. The food - especially the vegetarian food from the restorant in the village. The observations - I think we were quite lucky and we managed to see a lot of birds and other animals as well. Conversations about identity, ethnicity and language! Other comments: You're the best! I'll be back as a volunteer for sure!”
