Game On project with led by our project partner, CIR (Romero Initiative) goes on a media trip to Honduras to report on the consequences of climate change and visit places where people are already suffering from the drastic effects of global warming and hear their stories firsthand. The focus is on the devastating consequences of tropical storms Eta and Iota, which led to landslides and floods.
Did you know that Honduras is one of the countries most threatened by the climate crisis?
Where there were houses and a church a few years ago, you can now go diving. The sea level here has risen by 165 meters in the last 10 years. This has caused destruction and salinization. Rising water temperatures are decimating fish stocks - and threatening the food sovereignty of the small community that lives from fishing.
Where is that? In Honduras, Cedeño, a stop of our media trip with European journalists and influencers as part of the #gameon project! The goal: show climate injustices up close, strengthen climate demands for the Global South.
You can follow the trip in our stories @climategameon and also @romeroinitiative) from this week.
