First users have finished all ClimateQuest six caches in Slovakia. BROZ, Slovak partner of the Game On consortium, organized competition as a part of the ClimateQuest activity. The first 20 geocachers to finish all Slovak geocaches will win the Terra Futura board game.
On 7th May BROZ organized a volunteering event, where the first six completionists got their Terra Futura. The aim of the event was to repair a bird observatory at a wetland by the Danube. The observatory is also the final stage of one of the caches.
"We were very pleased with the creation of this new ClimateQuest series. We take climate issues very seriously and we are sincerely interested in the future of the planet. As far as energy is concerned, the solar energy source is closest to us. Nuclear power plants are a specific category and we are, in principle, in favour of using them, but we believe that the world will be able to move forward in this area and generate as little nuclear waste as possible." wrote one of the geocachers about Slovak cache How to power the world.
Overall, climate caches are perceived very positively, another user wrote about them "As for the 43rd cache series itself, the idea is really impressive. It is clear to us that we will just take the Bratislava ones and maybe a few Hungarian and Czech ones if we are somewhere in the vicinity on a trip. The motivation to take ours as soon as possible is, of course, also huge thanks to the board game, and we also appreciate the need to participate in volunteering events. So far we have only been on one, but after an excellent experience, we are already looking forward to the next."
