In response to this challenge, the Climate Compact e-learning course were developed to provide individuals, communities and organizations with the knowledge and skills needed to address climate change. The Climate Compact e-learning course is a training program that covers a range of topics related to the climate crisis, including the science behind climate change, the impacts of climate change on different sectors, and the strategies and policies that can be implemented to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The course is designed for individuals who are interested in climate change and sustainability, as well as organizations that want to develop their capacity to find solutions.

Environmental education awakens the scientific and emotional connection between the self and the environment, which is elemental for taking responsibility for our future. Learning about climate change is important for everyone, regardless of age, background, or occupation. 

Education about climate change can help individuals make informed decisions about their daily habits, such as reducing energy consumption, choosing sustainable transportation options, and adopting a plant-based diet. By doing so, individuals can reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to mitigating climate emergency.

The 'Game On! - Don’t let climate change end the game!' Project partners recognize the importance of educating people on climate change and its impacts on society, the environment, and the economy. To achieve this goal, CEEweb for biodiversity created an online course called the Climate Compact. This course is designed to be accessible and informative, providing a solid foundation in the science of climate change, its connection to our daily lives, its impact on biodiversity, and the role of communication in combating climate denial. 

Through 12 straightforward lessons each with animated videos and tests, the Climate Compact course covers various topics related to climate change. These include the impact of climate change on our communities, the importance of biodiversity conservation, the principles of climate justice, the effects of pollution, and the economics of climate change. The course is easy to follow and grounded in scientific research, making it an ideal starting point for anyone interested in learning more about climate change and its effects on our world.

Our social structure is related to climate crisis in numerous ways. Societal behaviors, attitudes, and values determine how individuals and communities interact with the environment. For instance, high levels of consumption, waste production, and reliance on fossil fuels are all contributing factors to climate change. Additionally, social inequalities and unequal access to resources can exacerbate the impacts of climate emergency on vulnerable communities. Therefore, promoting sustainable behaviors, reducing social inequalities, and addressing systemic issues are essential for mitigating and improving resilience.

Human health conditions can depend on the effects of climate change. Rising temperatures and extreme weather events, such as heatwaves, floods, and droughts, can have direct impacts on human health, such as heatstroke, dehydration, and respiratory diseases. Climate emergency can also indirectly affect human health by altering the distribution of disease vectors, such as mosquitoes and ticks, and increasing the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, leading to displacement, malnutrition, and mental health issues. Therefore, addressing climate change is crucial for safeguarding public health and preventing future health risks.

Biodiversity conservation is highlighted in climate change education because biodiversity loss is both a cause and consequence of climate change. Educating people on the importance of biodiversity conservation and how it can help mitigate climate change can promote sustainable land use practices and protect vulnerable species and ecosystems. As well land use has significant impacts on greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity. Educating on sustainable water use practices can promote water conservation and help build resilience too.

Waste and pollution can have an impact on climate change by contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts. Waste decomposition in landfills and the release of methane during waste processing are major sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, air pollution from burning fossil fuels, industrial processes, and transportation contributes to the formation of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, as well as other pollutants that can harm human health and ecosystems. Therefore, reducing waste and pollution through sustainable waste management practices, reducing energy consumption, and transitioning to clean energy sources are essential for mitigating climate change and promoting sustainable development.

Climate crisis is largely driven by energy use, and climate change education can promote sustainable energy practices that mitigate its effects. It can also raise awareness of the impacts of energy use on the environment and encourage the development of renewable energy sources.

Urban areas are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Sustainable urban development practices can promote the development of climate-resilient and sustainable cities.  Climate change has significant impacts on vulnerable populations in the Global South. Promoting climate justice can help address inequities and promote sustainability. 

Our economic structure is related to climate change in several ways. Industrial processes, transportation, and energy production are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, which are the primary drivers of climate change. Economic growth and consumption patterns have also led to resource depletion, deforestation, and other land-use changes, which exacerbate climate change and biodiversity loss. Therefore, transitioning to a more sustainable and low-carbon economic model is essential for addressing the causes and impacts of climate change.
